The annual Penn Cove Musselfest will be this weekend in Coupeville, WA, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
This is the 27th year that Coupeville has celebrated the world famous Penn Cove mussels with the MussleFest. There will be chowder tasting, mussel eating competitions and activities for all ages.
Festival activities start with a stop by the MusselFest Headquarters located at the Coupeville Recreation Hall in the heart of historic downtown Coupeville. A festival fan favorite is the Mussel Chowder Tasting Competition, which pits local restaurants against each other for the coveted Mussel Chowder prize. Chowder tasting tickets sell out QUICKLY, so purchase before 1pm. All tickets for the tasting and mussel farm boat tours can be purchased at the Coupeville Recreation Hall in downtown Coupeville.
There will also be mussel cooking demonstrations along with the daily mussel eating competition. The Glacier Spirit will offer guided cruises of the Penn Cove Shellfish mussel farm.
Entertainment include sing along with Nancy Steward and seaside children’s activities. “No festival experience is complete without a stop by the revered Penn Cove Shellfish Mussel, Wine and Beer Garden on Saturday for live music, mussels, great beverages and catching up with friends,” according to the website.
