Experience a day of indoor and outdoor family fun when you attend Penitentiary Glen's free Fun Day event in Kirtland, Ohio on Monday, January 20 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day).
Fun Day Taking place from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Nature Center at Penitentiary Glen, Fun Day provides a wide range of activities that all members of the family can enjoy.
Guests will receive X-plorer packs filled with a variety of hands-on activities. Other activities include a scavenger hunt, making a seasonal nature craft, face painting and indoor winter games. And make sure you pay a visit to the campfire where you will be able to roast marshmallows and make s'mores.
The Nature Center's Wildlife Center will be open and guests will be able to visit with Ohio wildlife ambassador animals and learn about these native Ohio creatures. Penitentiary Glen has a multitude of bird feeders so make sure you check out the indoor viewing area where you can relax and view the wildlife at the Windows on Wildlife area.
Visitors can also learn all the sights and sounds of wildlife at the Center's interactive Nature Calls exhibit.
Penitentiary Glen has more than 8.5 miles of trails for your hiking pleasure and visitors at Fun Day will be able to enjoy a walk (perhaps along the Peppermint Trail).
Admission is free for all ages. Parking is also free. Weather permitting, visitors will be able to rent snowshoes for a small fee. Penitentiary Glen will also hold a Fun Day on Monday, February 17 (President's Day).
