San Mateo, CA: Peninsula Humane Society just opened a new location. “The privately funded facility cost $25 million to build, and $21 million of it has already been paid for through donations.”
Peninsula Humane Society “can house 200 domestic animals and 218 wild animals.”
Why, then , is Coco, a family pet being killed today at Peninsula Humane Society?
Local citizens, Gladys and Larry, found Coco and called the humane society in thinking she’d be cared for and either returned to her home or a new home found for her.
They’d watched the television commercials with sad-eyed kittens and woeful dogs and believed like most uninformed people, that giant lush facilities such as Peninsula Humane Society would save Coco.
When Larry received the call that Coco’s owner no longer wanted her and PHS was killing her today, he and Gladys reached out to Reunion Rescue and the American Pit Bull Examiner.
Although Reunion Rescue has relocated back home to Texas, the group originated in California and still tries to help distressed animals in the region. Reunion Rescue's mission and book Pit Bull Nation strives to change shelter practices and help independent rescuers save lives.
Coco needs help and quickly. A family pet, she was gentle and docile with Gladys and Larry who cannot grasp why she is being destroyed today.
A Facebook page has been quickly created in hopes that Coco can be saved. In an affluent area where Peninsula Humane Society director Ken White is paid almost a half million a year and enjoys gratis a million dollar Burlingame estate, certainly a small fund could be raise to save Coco whose only crime seems to be living in the wrong zip code.
Here is more information about Coco:
Coco’s ID# is 539191 and PHS contact is Johnny at 650-340-7022 X320.
Please comment and share suggestions below this article and on Coco’s Facebook page.
Coco was saved from the jaws of death at PHS by a loyal follower of the American Pit Bull Examiner. PHS made Coco's adopter sign a liability waiver before giving them the bum's rush out the back door.
A chip in has been created to help raise money to pay for any medical and training with Bob Gutierrez at a Better Way Dog Training. Please consider a small donation to help Coco have a wonderful new life.
