Penguins ship Eric Tangradi to the Winnipeg Jets

The Eric Tangradi experiment has run its course and is now over. The Pittsburgh Penguins have shipped the left winger to the Winnipeg Jets for a seventh round pick in the 2013 draft.

Acquired from the Anaheim Ducks in the trade that also brought Chris Kunitz to Pittsburgh in exchange for Ryan Whitney, Tangradi appeared in forty-five games in four seasons with the big team. In that span, he was only able to score one goal and register five points. In 178 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Tangradi scored sixty goals. However, that production never seemed to translate to the NHL.

Eric Tangradi was originally drafted by the Ducks in the second round of the 2007 NHL draft from the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League. He was also a member of the 2008-2009 U.S. U-20 World Junior Championship team, finishing in fifth place.

After being scratched during the past number of games, Tangradi should see ice time with the Jets.
