Penguins season schedule released

With the signing of the memo of understanding, the NHL has released the schedules for all 30 franchises. The Penguins schedule can be found here.

The Penguins will start their season in Philadelphia against the Flyers, and go on to New York to face the Rangers in Madison Square Garden Sunday, January 20.

The home opener for the Penguins will be Wednesday, January 23 against the Toronto Maple Leafs before they hit the road again for their game in Winnipeg Friday, January 25 with the Jets. Both of those games are scheduled for a 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. faceoff, respectively.

Some highlights of the Penguins schedule include:

Sunday, February 3: First matchup with the Washington Capitals (12:30 p.m., NBC)

Wednesday, February 20: First home game vs. the Flyers (7:30 p.m., NBCSN)

Thursday, February 28: First game against Jordan Staal and the Carolina Hurricanes (7:00 p.m., NHLN-US)

Saturday, March 2: First meeting with the Montreal Canadiens in Montreal and former coach Michel Therrien (7:00 p.m., CBC, RDS, NHLN-US)

Tuesday, March 12 (7:30 p.m., NBCSN) & Sunday, March 17 (12:30 p.m., NBC): Two home games against the Boston Bruins

The Penguins have a five-game homestand from Sunday, March 24 to Tuesday, April 2.

The regular season finale will be on Saturday, April 27 vs. the Hurricanes, and will be the first and only visit for Jordan Staal to Pittsburgh this season.
