See also

After four days without a game, the Pittsburgh Penguins are back in action tonight as they take on the New Jersey Devils in what some are could be Jaromir Jagr’s final game in Pittsburgh. The Penguins look to shake off some rust after defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets, 2-1, on Monday night. The Devils also had a break of three days as they look to rebound from losing to the same Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.

When and where: Consol Energy Center (Pittsburgh, PA); 7:00 pm/et (Root Sports, MSG Plus, RDS)

Records: Penguins (21-10-1, 43 pts.); Devils (12-14-6, 30 pts.)

Season series: Tied at 1.

Last meeting: The last time the Devils and Penguins met was November 16th in New Jersey. That night Jaromir Jagr and Martin Brodeur won the game for New Jersey. Jagr scored two third period goals while Brodeur stopped twenty-seven of twenty-eight shots to give the Devils the 4-1 victory.

Who to keep an eye on:

1. Jaromir Jagr: The forty-one year old ex-Penguin leads the Devils in points with twenty-five. Be expected to hear about the potential of this being Jagr’s final game in Pittsburgh about forty-one times, but who really knows if it is.

2. Chris Kunitz: Chris Kunitz continues to make his case for a spot on Team Canada for the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. He sits fourth in the NHL in goals with seventeen and second in the league in power play goals with eight.

Ex-Penguin alert: RW Jaromir Jagr (1990-2001)

Injuries:

Penguins: G Tomas Vokoun (blood clot), D Rob Scuderi (broken ankle), RW Beau Bennett (wrist/hand), D Paul Martin (broken tibia), LW Tanner Glass (broken hand), D Brooks Orpik (concussion), C Andrew Ebbett (broken ankle)

Devils: D Bryce Salvador (foot), LW Ryane Clowe (head), D Adam Larsson (lower body), LW Ryan Carter (lower body), C Stephen Gionta (sprained ankle), D Peter Harrold (broken foot), D Anton Volchenkov (neck/back)

Additional notes:

-Brooks Orpik skated this morning with injured players, Tanner Glass and Rob Scuderi. Dan Bylsma said it was just protocol and to get him a light workout.

-There is hope that Scuderi and Glass could return to practice in a few days.

-Who really knows if this is Jagr’s final game in Pittsburgh, there’s still a trade deadline to go through.

-Perhaps this could be Brian Dumoulin’s NHL debut?
