Penguins add Zach Boychuk off waivers

The Pittsburgh Penguins made a roster move today, adding forward Zach Boychuk after claiming him off waivers from the Carolina Hurricanes.

Boychuk was the Hurricanes’ first round pick (14th overall) in 2008, and appeared in seventy-three games with the Canes over the span of five seasons. The twenty-three year old left winger registered thirty-two points (16 goals, 16 assists) in thirty-seven games with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League, the affiliate of the Hurricanes.

Head coach Dan Bylsma mentioned that he could use Boychuk on the second line with Evgeni Malkin and James Neal. With the Penguins, Zach Boychuk will wear sweater number seventeen.
