Although Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's poll number are in the low 30's, she continues to manipulate Obama and the Democrats into passing bills that the voters are rejecting. She is savvy enough about beltway politics to figure out how to keep the far-left politicians in line and for a while throwing barbs at those, such as the Blue Dogs and Republicans, seemed to be working.
After the July 4th holiday break however, some congressional democrats came back to Washington with the sounds of rejection in their ears, coming from their constituencies. Now, the Senate seems to be in no hurry to bring out a Cap and Trade Bill and the health reform legislation has been put further back on the burner.
Will Obama be the fall guy for Pelosi's arrogance? Almost daily his poll numbers are dropping as the resistance of the American public becomes more evident. It is not only the tax and spend program of Pelosi that is irritating those responding to the polls, it is also the cover up of corruption by Democrats, including that of
- Rep. Charles B. Rangel who is under investigation for ethical improprieties in his person finances and fundraising activities
- Loretta and Linda T. Sanchez, under investigation for a payroll mess
- Rep. Maxine Waters, who is involved with a bank bailout scandal.
And where is Obama during all this? Running around the world making speeches (which have had a poor response from the G-7 and the Russian leadership) as a way of staying out of Pelosi's political disasters. Slowly the speeches he made during the campaign are beginning to sound hollow as Independents especially are turning their backs on him.
One reason for Pelosi and her cohorts enthusiasm for Obama over Hillary may have been that she could manipulate him so easily. In the end, she may be his worst enemy because faith in his leadership is shrinking as the economic problems in the U.S. continue to multiply and far from being the 8% he predicted, 10% or even 11% unemployment is being predicted. And China keeps making discontent sounds about using the dollar for trade, developing is own currency instead.
As Pelosi continues to push through tax and spending programs, such as cap and trade, which has been estimated to cost each household nearly $1000 more a year in utility costs and now a health program that will add more trillions of dollars to the debt, it will be Obama who will be given the blame because instead of facing the reality about the trillions of dollars of debt being piled up on future generations, he not only allowed Pelosi to run wild, he capped it off by signing the disasters into law. And some wonder whether the weakening of national security by the Democrats may also come back to haunt him.
With an enemy like Pelosi, Obama may have to look elsewhere for friends who can salvage his presidency.

You really ought to at least try and get your facts straight. While Pelosi is manipulating Obama (why do you think she helped rig the Democratic convention?) the idea that health care is on the back burner is beyond absurd. Its the number 1 domestic priority of Obama and the Democratic congress. There is debate among Blue Dog Democrats over pay structures they feel are unfair to rural doctors that need to be worked out but to even sugges that health care reform has gone onto the back burner is just ignorant.
