The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in Branchburg will present a performance by the always exciting Peking Acrobats, Friday, February 24, at 7 p.m. The evening is part of the Theatre’s 2011-2012 Major Artists Series. Tickets cost $25 and $35.
Gymnasts, jugglers, cyclists, contortionists and tumblers, all carefully selected from China’s finest acrobat schools, transform 2,000-year-old athletic disciplines into a kaleidoscope of entertainment and wonder. The Acrobats perform an amazing mix of daring maneuvers—including treacherous wire-walking, trick-cycling, precision tumbling and gymnastics.
Tradition demands that each generation of acrobats adds its own improvements and embellishments. With this in mind, the Peking Acrobats offer a wonderful example of modern technology and special effects, melded with a rich and ancient tradition.
