Two versions of Peg Perego strollers are now being recalled due to possible entrapment and strangulation. The Venezia and Pliko-P3 were both manufactured between January 2004 and September 2007 and are part of a whopping 223,000 products by Peg Perego USA that are being recalled.
The recall occurs years after a six-month-old baby boy died of strangulation after his head became trapped between the seat and the tray in 2004. A seven-month-old girl almost met the same fate when her head became trapped between the seat and the tray of her stroller in 2006.
Strollers were manufactured prior to the existence of the January 2008 voluntary industry standard, which addresses the height of the opening between the stroller’s tray and seat bottom. Only strollers that have a child’s tray with one cup holder are part of this recall.
To find out if your stroller is a part of the recall, look for the white label that is printed on the back of the Pliko P-3’s stroller seat and on the Venezia stroller’s foot board.
