2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (NKJV)
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Peeling an onion is not a pleasant process but absolutely necessary when the recipe requires it. Onions have a distinct flavor but to prepare one is a tedious process. The skin must be stripped away and easily done. But then the real work begins as layer by layer, it is prepared for cooking or seasoning. Onions release a gas when cut that irritates our eyes. Our human defense is tears that protect the eyes from the gas. The tears in the process of preparation are not emotional but a natural response to the irritant. There is no way to avoid the gases that is created when the cells of the onion are crushed although there are many suggestions of how to keep them from irritating our eye. God created the onion to release the enzyme that when combined with air produce this gas. God created people to release praise and produce His Glory. The onion will do its job every single time as it is transformed into a delicious dish. What will we do when God presses us to release His Glory?
God wants to transform your life from natural to supernatural. He does this by changing us from glory to glory. How does one produce glory in life? It begins with praise. Praise promotes the Name of God and makes His Name great in the earth. But like a good recipe, it really is not worthy of praise until someone prepares it and eats it finding it delightful. Refinement is the necessary process of producing God’s Glory and those who learn to praise the Lord will find the strength they need to press through their problems to experience His Glory on earth. His Spirit gives us the freedom to enter into the Glory of God and live there. What will you find in His Glory? Satisfaction, fulfillment, contentment, peace and prosperity are all waiting for those who will release praise and receive His Glory in their life. Spiritual transformation is a process much like peeling an onion. Yes, there may be some discomfort. Yes, there will be many tears. But when complete – it will be worth it in the end.
Colossians 3:1-4 (NLT)
Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.
I have a good friend and co-worker who is a “foodie”. She likes to experiment cooking and making new dishes. During lunch, we will discuss what we cooked over the weekend or the night before. She has encouraged me on many occasions to try new things and seasonings, etc. Just a little bit of this and that, she has created a “foodie” in me as I have tried her suggestions with success and found new confidence in the kitchen. Through our relationship, I have found a new facet of life that I had never experienced before. She made suggestions which I have taken and offered encouragement which I have stepped out on. I gladly tell others what she tells me and give her the credit of being the one who pushed me in the kitchen and out of my comfort zone. Our relationship with God works the same way as we are changed from glory to glory. God knows our purpose and potential from beginning to end. He created us. He proposed every single day of our life before we breathed a single breath. Who better to prod, push and encourage us to fulfill that potential? As we spend time with the Lord, His Spirit will lead us from glory to glory in the transformation process. Some times this will be an easy process like taking the skin off of an onion, but as we grow deeper in our relationship with the Lord there may be some tears and discomfort in the midst of refinement. Do not give up. You have been given a brand new life to discover and the Lord is preparing you to make His Name great. Confidence in Christ allows us to praise the Lord in the midst of opposition and adversity until His Glory comes pouring out of our life like a sweet aroma to the Lord.
Haggai 2:6-9 (NLT)
“For this is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: In just a little while I will again shake the heavens and the earth, the oceans and the dry land. I will shake all the nations, and the treasures of all the nations will be brought to this Temple. I will fill this place with glory, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. The future glory of this Temple will be greater than its past glory, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. And in this place I will bring peace. I, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!”
The world in which we live is violently shaking at the proximity of Jesus Christ. The American government has been shut down because it cannot agree. Who ever thought that would happen? The world as we know it is changing like never before. Things just don’t make sense. Violence is at an unprecedented rate. Perversity reaches into our households strangling marriages and stealing our children. Sound the alarm, because Jesus is coming back but not before He shakes things up really well! He is releasing everything you need to bring Glory back to the Body of Jesus Christ. Believers have forgotten the importance of praise and bringing glory to God in their life. God is giving us the chance to be shaken and disturbed to repentance and redemption once more. He wants to give you a new life. He wants to bless you. You must give Him praise. As a believer, it is your privilege and duty to bring Glory to His Name. How are you doing in this endeavor?
Luke 17:17-19 (NLT)
Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” And Jesus said to the man, “Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you.”
Everything in this life is intended for the Glory of God according to His Plan. (Romans 11:36) As we see in this story, it doesn’t always work out that way. Jesus healed ten men but only one returned to bring Him glory for it. When was the last time you publicly praised the Lord and gave Him credit for the good things in your life? Every good and perfect gift comes directly from the Father with Love. (James 1:17) Yet we spend more time grumbling and complaining rather than praising and glorifying the Lord. Then we wonder why it seems that our prayers go unanswered and hearts remain broken. By faith, we can ask anything and God will do it for His Glory. (John 14:12-14) We get the blessing and God gets the glory…or does He? His Spirit is God’s Guarantee that blessing and promises are possible for our life when we live for the Glory of God as His Children. (2 Corinthians 1:19-20) Spiritual reproduction brings glory to the Father. When we learn to produce the fruit of His Spirit in our life, all credit must go the Lord because it is nothing that the world has to offer. (John 15:7-9) Righteous character brings glory to God when we embrace our new creation rather than claiming our tossed out trash as a way of life. (Philippians 1:10-11) It matters how you live if you want to bring glory to God! Serving God and doing His Work brings glory to His Great Name. (John 17:3-4) If Jesus is our prime example, then this is the way of life that we are after. Not my will, but your will God! ”If it seems we are crazy, it is to bring glory to God. And if we are in our right minds, it is for your benefit. Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.” (2 Corinthians 5:13-15) When you begin living for the Glory of God even in the midst of painful processes of refinement, people are going to think you are crazy and have lost your mind. Trust me. They will try to bring you out of His Presence in the midst of His Glory and back to reality. Dig in. Refuse to give in or give up until His Glory reaches your life.
For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.
God doesn’t require you to earn His Glory. It is acquired in righteousness. Nothing more or less. However, to remain in His Glory basking in its benefits requires a full-time relationship with the Lord. You must interact with Christ each and every day. You must listen for the voice of His Spirit. This is a real and passionate relationship that requires attention, appreciation, admiration and affection. As a result, you can live in His Presence that is filled with His Glory. It stays with you. It is on you and in you allowing it to permeate the atmosphere of your ordinary life making it extraordinary. Problems produce staying power as we learn to endure to receive all that God has promised rather than just scratching the surface. It calls us deeper into our relationship with the Lord and His Glory! (Romans 5:1-5) Yes, there will be hard times. Yes, there will be tears. It will require a change but what a difference His Glory will make in our life as we experience His Love more and more as our soul prospers so will we!
Isaiah 40:3-5 (NLT)
Listen! It’s the voice of someone shouting, “Clear the way through the wilderness for the LORD! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God! Fill in the valleys, and level the mountains and hills. Straighten the curves, and smooth out the rough places. Then the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all people will see it together. The LORD has spoken!”
His Glory is a product of praise. You glorify God by living in a trust relationship with the Father no matter how difficult the road of life and circumstances you face. Praise clears the way for His Glory to meet you. Fill in the valleys with praise. Level the mountains with praise. Straighten highways with praise. Smooth out rough patches with praise. Remind God of His Word and your faith coupled with confident hope that He will do what He says. His Glory will fill your life. Prayers will be answered. Faith will flourish. Hope will rise. The more you cry out testifying the holiness and greatness of God – the thicker His Glory (Presence) becomes in the temple which is our life. (Isaiah 6:1-8) Once we learn to accept His Glory and live in it, more glory is produced. (Isaiah 60:19-21) We are changed to more life Jesus as we imitate the Love of God in our daily life. (Isaiah 61:1-4) Maybe you are thinking, but I like my life just as it is. That is fear and doubt being voiced by weak flesh, no one who has ever experienced the Glory, Grace and Favor of God firsthand would ever want anything less than the Perfect Will of God! It is just that good!
Ephesians 3:19-21 (NLT)
May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
The Love of Christ is too great to fully understand. It is to be experienced firsthand. The Lord wants to make you complete with all the fullness and power that comes from God for His Glory. Our job is to make His Name famous on the earth. Is your God worth having? Is His Power worth experiencing? Are you glorifying God with your life? God is able to do everything that He promises. Are you willing to give Him some praise? Sometimes our praise is based on faith alone. That is more than enough for His Glory to reach us! By choosing to live in the Glory of God and for His Fame, puts the pressure on God to be who He says that He is and do everything that He has promised to do! He will do it to the Glory of His Great Name! Now go tell someone how great is our God!
Philippians 4:19-20 (NLT)
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. Now all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Amen.
