Former Jewish Hasidic counselor Nechemya Weberman, 54, learned his fate after being found guilty in Brooklyn, NY on 59 counts of various pedophilia charges, including molestation of a young girl. He was sentenced to 103 years in prison, and unless Weberman plans to become the longest living human being in history, he will die in prison.
A smile came over the face of his victim, now 18, when Weberman's sentence was read aloud in the courtroom. The girl, whose name has never been released, was sexually molested for three years between the ages of 12 - 15. Before the sentencing, according to nypost.com, she gave the following testimony:
I clearly remember how I would look in the mirror. I saw a girl who didn’t want to live in her own skin. A sad girl who wished so badly she could live a normal teenage life but instead was victimized by a 54-year-old man who forced her to perform sickening acts, again and again, for his sadistic pleasure. I can finally look at myself and feel happy that god gave me the strength to go through with this trial.
Nechemya Weberman was silent when his sentence was read, and he was taken in chains out of the courtroom and sent back to jail where he will await transfer to an unspecified prison. There has been no determination if Weberman will receive special treatment because of his religious background, and the heinousness of his crimes.
Since this trial began at least 10 other victims have come forward to say they were also sexually assaulted by Nechemya Weberman.
