Jesse Richard Brisbin, 30, who has been convicted multiple times for sexual crimes against minors attempted to kidnap 6-year-old Taylor Fletcher on June 6, 2014 from a park in Seattle. He was thwarted by an angry mob of parents and children.
In 1999 Brisbin was convicted of kidnapping a child, and of having criminal sexual contact with a child. In 2006 Brisbin was arrested for exposing his genitals to minors, and in 2009 he was arrested for attempting to elicit sex from a child, and for exposing his naked body to multiple children.
Near dusk at 7 p.m. Brisbin approached Fletcher, grabbed her hand, and began to lead her away. According to kirotv.com Brisbin took off his shirt and tied it around the young girl's head to block her ears, eyes, and mouth. Fletcher told police Brisbin said he was doing this because he was 'going to take the poison out of her.'
Brisbin successfully kidnapped Fletcher for almost 20 minutes, but before he had an opportunity to enact his nefarious plan a group of teenagers spotted him. The teens were aware of Brisbin's past criminal history, and quickly altered the attention of adults in the area. A mob of twenty people including Fletcher's very angry father, other parents, and teens began to chase Brisbin before cornering and surrounding the serial pedophile.
Fletcher's father ordered Brisbin to use his own phone to call 911 on himself, and to report his crime. Brisbin complied.
After dialing 911 Brisbin attempted to escape by becoming physically violent. He was quickly overcome by the mob and beaten to a bloody pulp. When police arrived at the scene Fletcher's father along with two others were assaulting Brisbin while he was on the ground. No charges were filed against any citizens who helped detain Brisbin.
Jesse Richard Brisbin was arrested and charged with suspicion of kidnapping. Bail was set in the amount of $500,000, and he is presently being held in King County Jail while awaiting arraignment on June 23. If convicted Brisbin faces life in prison.
