Last week Pedigree issued a voluntary recall of Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition, in 15 pound bags, that were sold at Dollar General Stores. Today, Sept. 2, 2014, My Fox Detroit is reporting that Pedigree has expanded the recall to include yet another size of their dry dog foods.

This week’s recall is for 55 pound bags of Adult Complete Nutrition. These bags were being held at Sam’s Club in several states but it is believed they have been sold to the public. According to the report the bags may have "the possible presence of a foreign material"

The 55 pound bags have lot code 432E1KKM03 on them and the “Best By” date is 8/7/15. You can find all of this information near the UPC on the back of the bag. These bags were reportedly sold in Sam’s Club in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. If you purchased any large bags of Pedigree from any of these places between August 14 – 30, you need to check the codes.

The bags may potential have small bits of metal in them. This could harm your dog’s stomach and intestines if ingested. Take the dog’s food away immediately if you have one of the recalled bags. If you have been feeding recalled food to your dog, watch for any symptoms and call your vet.

Last week’s recall of the 15 pound bags of Pedigree were in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. The lot code on these bags is 432C1KKM03 with the same Best By date on them. That recall was also for foreign material in the bags.

Pedigree is a product of Mars Petcare and the company is urging consumers to either discard any affected bags of food, or return them for a refund. Their phone number is listed on the FDA website where the recall was also announced. Mars urges consumers to call them with any concerns.
