A pedestrian was struck and killed by multiple vehicles on the downtown connector late Tuesday night in Atlanta. But police said only two drivers stopped.
So far, the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office has not been able to identify the victim’s name.
The wreck happened around 10 p.m. on I-75/85 southbound at Williams Street, according to Atlanta police. By the time officers arrived on the scene, the man was already dead on the interstate, police spokesman Officer John Chafee said.
“The preliminary investigation indicates that a male was on the left shoulder of the southbound lanes on I-75/85 and attempted to cross the southbound lanes,” police spokesman Officer John Chafee said. “He was struck by multiple vehicles and died on scene. Two vehicles stopped and remained on scene.”
The investigation is ongoing and police said charges are possible. They have not released the names of the drivers who remained at the scene and it’s unclear why the man was attempting to cross the downtown connector.
