A female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed shortly after 9:p.m. on Business Rt 1 in Middletown Pa. yesterday, June 7 2014. The crash happened just south of Woodbourne Rd., in front of the McCafferty car dealership. The vehicle, a passenger car, was traveling north on Rt. 1. The driver stopped the car and is cooperating with police.

Two medic units were called and both tried to save the person but she was pronounced at the scene. The Bucks County Coroner arrived just after 10:00 p.m. to make the pronouncement. No other vehicles were involved. The road was closed down for about a quarter mile in each direction . A quick detour down South Flowers Mill Rd would have you avoid the scene and allow you to travel around the incident without much delay.

It is unknown why the pedestrian was in the road or where she was going. Police have not released the name and cops on the scene said they were not sure of who she was. An investigation is under way to determine exactly what happened. The road was reopened by 1:00 a.m..

There have been many accidents on that[particular stretch of road. Some have been bad, while others have been fender benders. This area is well lit from streetlights as well as lights from the car dealership. In an online press release, police said that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this crash.
