Eventbrite and the O’donnell’s have teamed up once again for the annual St Patrick’s Day Parade. Kick off Colorado Spring’s cycling season for 2013 in style! Come downtown to the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in Colorado Springs. It’s this weekend, Saturday March 16. Don’t take up gardening or clean out the garage. If you are really ambitious, you’ll be riding in the 50K bike ride. It starts at America the Beautiful Park, ends at Colorado College, then down Tejon St. for a total of 31.7 miles.
The bike ride begins at 8:30am Saturday morning. The event is insured by USA Cycling. What you didn’t know? Entry fees are free for some of the riders this year. How come? Colorado Springs Bike Shop, who just celebrated their 40th birthday, held a contest in February to answer this question, “Why does a bicycle NEED a kickstand?” The first ten people to answer the riddle were given free registration to Saturday’s ride. The question posted to Facebook on February 23, and the answer posted one week later. If you still haven’t figured it out, the answer was “It is two tired.” Of course, we must congratulate everyone that tried. Winners included Brian McCarrie, Mike Sperry, and Mark-Virginia Crane. Good luck to all this season! Colorado Springs Bike Shop will not be in the parade, but they are open Saturday.
The parade begins at noon and typically lasts for ninety minutes. Dress in green or suffer the consequences. For those who are not participating in the race, purchase Grand Stand Seating Tickets. Available for only two more days. Call (719) 635-8803 for details.
