Pebble Beach Resorts officially opened a new, state-of-the-art practice facility January 24th, just a week and a bit before the golf world turns its attention to the jewel of Monterey Peninsula-area golf courses for the 2014 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Pebble Beach Company CEO Bill Perocchi cut the ceremonial ribbon, saying “Today marks an important milestone for Pebble Beach Resorts. We now have a practice facility and golf academy that rivals any in the world, but most importantly, one that is befitting the legendary golf, unparalleled customer service, and stunning beauty of Pebble Beach.”

The new facility, located across the street from the former Pebble Beach driving range, is a double-ended, 350-yard long range facility with room for 85 golfers on the natural-grass hitting areas. Nearly twice the size of the old range, the new range is dotted with a number of sculpted target greens which mimic the look and feel of shots that golfers will encounter on the resort’s world-famous golf course. The new range greatly increases the accommodation for short-game practice compared to the old range with a 40,000-square-foot short-game practice area with bunkers and chipping areas, and a 4,500-square-foot putting green.

Indoors, the new practice facility houses the new 3,000-square-foot Pebble Beach Golf Academy. With three instruction studios, a robotic swing trainer, 3D motion capture system, computerized putting stroke evaluation and indoor golf simulator, the Academy is home to the latest in high-tech learning tools for the golfer looking to improve their game. The facility will host a number of golf school programs throughout the year.

“The new Pebble Beach Golf Academy & Practice Facility isn’t only about the physical space,” adds RJ Harper, Executive Vice President of Golf & Retail. “We’ve also created a seamless customer-service experience from the moment the guest arrives on site. With new luxury shuttles, multi-layered guest service touches and an environment custom built for the practice-minded golfer, we’ve taken the practice range model from ordinary to extraordinary. There is a distinct ‘wow factor’ around every corner.”
