Pearl Jam: Band 'stoked' for 2013 new songs, new album release

In an interview with Billboard on Feb. 22, Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, gives an update on new music in the works for the band's long awaited album release.

McCready told Billboard that seven songs are completed and he is "stoked" about the completion of the forthcoming album. The album has been a two-year labor of love for the band, along with other projects, that each respective band member has been working on independently.

In addition to the seven songs, front man Eddie Vedder has been writing some new songs. McCready feels that the new album will offer something special, and the band hopes to have the record released this year.

Iconic Seattle grunge band, Pearl Jam, is hitting the circuit again this year with select tour dates, bringing back those feel-good tunes, riffs and lyrics from the mind and soul of Eddie Vedder.

Pearl Jam was formed in 1990, in Seattle. The band's sound is quintessential alternative/grunge rock, as the band itself were the catalyst of the alternative rock genre.

Billboard reports, "Pearl Jam's Mike McCready tells Billboard he's "stoked" the band is heading back into the studio soon "to finish off this record that we've been working on for about two years." McCready continued, "We're going to go in and revisit some demos we did about a year ago and also some new stuff that Ed's been working on," he said. "That's coming up pretty soon. I'm stoked. I'm ready to get back in with those guys again."
