(phone rings) Hello, Yes I know where I can get the best coffee in the universe. Well yes that is an opinion but it is my opinion and I .... The branding statement says it is only "really good coffee?" Yes. it is really good. No I don't think that I am exagerating that it is the best coffee in the universe. Yes- I can explain: The Bixlers are humble people. When they started Mission Coffee Roasters they wanted to give mission organizations a route to raising funds for their missions. So they branded the coffee, "Mission Coffee, really good coffee with a mission." No sir. Coffee beans and cups do not have a mission, they can't be ON a mission, but the people who roast the coffee, serve the coffee and make the coffee CAN. No sir- the coffee does not come in cans it comes in bags with really nice logos. Well some of the logos are from really good missionaries on really good coffee. By the way- Coffee for Less is a coffee machine where you can get great presses; get grinders and get all those kind of instruments that help process- "really good coffee with a mission." To order coffee e-mail missionroasters@yahoo.com and tell them that the Ministry of Leadership and Communications sent you. Or call 410.215.9202 .
Mission Monday Morning:
Peace and Quiet in your city
The transition from being hopeful; planning, and finding peace can be found in the Triology of thr Biblical, Systematic and Evangelical Theologies that congregate at the intersection of Five Points.
Biblical
"I will grant peace in the land" is where the first idea of peace is found in the Bible. The Hebrew word for "peace" is "Shalom," which is not a promise of the absence of war yet instead it is a "possitive state of rightness and well being which only comes from the Lord." (NIV Study Bible). God is speaking to the Israelites and telling them that when you obey Him and His ways, peace is a reward. Think of it in your own life. We are at peace when we feel safe and secure no matter what situation a person is in. If men and women were obedient to God they would be also right in their relationships. The result is that we would all be at peace in our relationships with God, in our marriages, with our families, and the people next door. Trouble is that we are rarely right with everybody at the same time. The verse in Jeremiah Chapter 26 is a Biblical mandate and a vow of protection from God if you and I obey His word.
Systematic
After reading the Biblical with a theological perspective we understand that the Trilogist moves to the next step of the scientific process and lays out the steps for what it means to people at that time and what it means to us and the distance between the two points of time. Last week we finished a study on hope and in doing so found that if God has a plan for you and me, "to give you (and me) a hope and a future that we need to systematically pray and ask God to show us His plans. Systematically we plan, we pray, we seek His plan and we pray some more and he engineers our MAP. After that we begin to obey His plan for us and we walk the path which leads to His peace. The missing enzyme in this process is "faith." hope is a feeling of what we want. Hope is great expectations (Philippians 1:19-20). When hope mirrors and directs our passion and convictions and faith becomes the substance of our hope, then we get a "fresh supply of the Holy Spirit, which leads to love and joy no matter what our circumstances are.
Hope with God's plan flows in to peace and surrender which flows into the love of God and people which creates a fresh supply of the Holy Spirit which sparks a chemical reaction of Joy.
Hope + Plan= PEACE - Surrender x Love 2 X Holy Sprit 3= Joy
Evangelical
When you take the abstract of God's Defining Word in Biblical Theology, you are tuned in to the mission and motive of God the Father. When you add a Christ-like approach in "Loving God with all your heart, soul and mind and your neighbor as you would like to be loved," you are applying systematic theology as Christ would approach humanity. Then you are ready to give the message, go on mission, and sing the music as evangelicals do best. Evangelical theology is to combine both the message of the Gospel with the Greatest Commandment and live the mission in your town or where god calls you.
Call and Response
We can all see faith (repeat)
when we seek his face (repeat)
We can know his grace (repeat)
Wrapped around us.
We can know his peace-R
in things we don't understand-R
and since it never will cease-R
He amazes me-R
Defining Word
Defining Life
No matter what you heard
He shines His light
on the most of what
we're meant to be
to the strong of heart
to the least of these!
We can find his love
in the place we make
a junction of joy
all else fades away
Defining Word
spoken and heard
Lord grant us peace.
We can go out now
to the city streets
to the alley ways
invite the least of thee
(that goes for you and me)
