"And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm." (Mark 4:35-41, KJV).
There are many lessons that we can learn from this passage of scripture. But the focus of this article will be on verse number 39.
Jesus and his disciples were in the midst of a storm, and the Lord stopped the storm by speaking to it. The driving force of this storm was the "wind." Jesus rebuked the wind and the storm ceased.
When speaking of spiritual things, the Bible will sometimes use the image of "the wind." The wind is a powerful force. It cannot be seen, but its effects and presence can be felt.
What was driving the storm that the disciples were so afraid of? It was the wind. When Jesus rebuked the wind, the actual cause of the storm, the storm ceased.
Looking at this verse from a spiritual perspective, we can compare this storm with many of the storms and problems in our lives. This storm can represent any obstacle or problem that we face. And, as with this storm, the driving force behind many of the storms that we face is the wind. In other words, many of our problems are caused by something in the spiritual realm. Many of our problems are demonic in nature. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." (Ephesians 6:12).
God has given us power and authority over the devil and his kingdom. We need to use our spiritual authority to address the demonic source of our personal storms. When the wind, the spiritual force behind our problem, is dealt with our storm will cease.
Concerning what ever problem that you face, you must pray to God for wisdom to know the origin of the situation. If the Holy Spirit reveals to you that you are under demonic attach, you must speak to this force, in Jesus' name, and command it to depart.
