PCs4Vets, a non-profit organization that provides free computers, software and educational classes to veterans and their family members will host an ewaste and paper shredding event in March at the Point Loma library in San Diego, California.
This event will be the second of its kind that PCs4Vets has held. The event supports free classroom, online, and OJT (on the job training) education for veterans and their family members.
"We donate anything we can reuse to veterans and recycle the rest via Green recycler, E World Recyclers, who then makes a donation for these items," said Michael Baker, Executive Director of PCs4Vets.
The event takes place on March 20, 2013 from 10:00AM-2:30PM. The Point Loma library is located at 3701 Voltaire St., San Diego, California.
"This is also a part of our OJT training and brings together veterans, businesses, and the community in a common cause of supporting the environment and each other. Any support is appreciated," said Baker.
The PCs4Vets green program has disposed of over 24,000 pounds of lead, approximately 75,000 pounds of toxic chemicals and has reused over 100 computers, turning them into tools and resources for veterans and their families, rather than going to a landfill. The ewaste events provide a free drop-off point for proper disposal of ewaste for anyone wishing to get rid of their ewaste.
