The Piscataquis community high school (PCHS) Pirates and the Penquis Patriots girls basketball teams played twice during a four day span in late January.
The Patriots won both of those games thanks to late game heroics from Lexi Larson.
Larson hit the game winning shot with five seconds left in the Patriots 40-39 victory at Guilford on January 21st.
Larson knocked down two free throws with 15 seconds remaining to secure a 41-38 Patriots victory at Milo on January 24th.
The Pirates and Patriots will meet again at Milo on Tuesday in a class C preliminary round game.
The winner will advance to face Orono in the class C quarterfinals at the Bangor Auditorium. Click here for the full class C tournament schedule.
The Patriots (8-10) have had seven games decided by 7 points or less.
PCHS (11-7) has lose five of their last eight games.
In other class C girls prelim action- Sumner (11-7) will host Lee (10-8).
The Pandas defeated Penquis 50-47 in their regular season finale to lock down a tourney spot.
The Tigers won their final three games to secure a home prelim game.
Narraguagus (9-9) will host Stearns (6-12).
The Minutemen had a four game losing streak and were on the outside of the tourney picture going into their contest with Houlton on February 7th.
Taylor Pelkey scored 18 points to lead Stearns to a 60-56 victory over Houlton that earned them a number nine seed in the class C tourney.
