Mr. Selfrdige” (PBS) can be seen each Sunday evening at 9/8 p.m. Last night's episode on April 27, 2014 was called “2.5” which means season 2, episode 5. The overnight TV ratings are not available from the public broadcasting system.

Mr. Selfridge” has an ensemble cast of 18 characters. Here are six of them, Aisling Loftus (Agnes Towler), Frances O'Connor (Rose Selfridge), Tom Goodman-Hill (Mr. Grove), Grégory Fitoussi (Henri Leclair), Katherine Kelly (Lady Mae) & Jeremy Piven (Harry Selfridge).

“2.5” opened with Miss Mardle & Agnes Towler having breakfast in Mardle's home which she inherited from her deceased brother. Agnes received a letter from her brother George who is now serving in the war. Mardle had also decided to take in border guests at her home for those affected by the war. A young man named Florine Debont comes to the home & his name is mis-interpreted as female. He is a musician who fled Belgium after Germany invaded his country.

Harry Selfridge finds that the women in shipping & loading are doing well. They took over after the young men went off to war. Harry moved his son Gordon from shipping up to selling products under Miss Mardle's supervision. Henri Leclair is a Frenchman who might fight under France if that country enters the war. He took a phone call where the man he gave money to isn't doing his job. Henri won't tell anyone what he is doing.

Delphine Day organizes a poker card game to introduce Harry to the military procurement committee. She heard that one of the committee members is retiring & believes that Harry can fill that position. Lady Mae sees Lord Loxley take out money to pay some bills. He hasn't told her that he has been getting kick backs on the military shoes he sells to the men in the war. Harry asked Lady Mae if Lord Loxley would attend the card game. The Lord accepted & wants to beat Harry down literally & figuratively.

Mr. Thackery & Henri argued over fashions & Thackery gets personal. He bluntly asks Henri why he isn't fighting along side his French-men in the war. Henri loses his cool & threatens Thackery with a physical beating. Lady Mae wants new clothes & is upset that Thackery shows her dresses she doesn't like.

Why does Mr. Thackery follow Henri on the street? Is Henri searching for a German woman caught up in the war? Will Harry lose money to Lord Loxley in a poker game? You can watch the full episode of “2.5” at the official website of “Mr. Selfridge.”
