PBS 'Mr. Selfridge' Harry disappears & Henri Leclair is accused of espionage

Mr. Selfridge” (PBS) can be seen each Sunday evening at 9/8 p.m. Last night's episode on May 4, 2014 was called, “2.6” which means season 2, episode 6. The overnight TV ratings are not available from the public broadcasting system.

Mr. Selfridge” has an ensemble cast of 18 characters. Here are eight of them, Aisling Loftus (Agnes Towler), Frances O'Connor (Rose Selfridge), Tom Goodman-Hill (Mr. Grove), Grégory Fitoussi (Henri Leclair), Trystan Gravelle (Victor) Katherine Kelly (Lady Mae), Jeremy Piven (Harry Selfridge) & Amanda Abbington (Miss Mardle).

2.6” opened with the London police searching the office at “Selfridges” where Henri Leclair worked. They also search the room at Harry's home where Leclair lived. He is sitting in jail suspected of being a spy for the Germans. Harry has gone to Paris for a business meeting & the employees of “Selfridges” are in shock over Leclair's arrest.

Harry never let anyone know that he was leaving for Paris. His lawyers are trying to defend Henri by finding out what he has been up to. Agnes goes to see Henri in jail & he tells her that he is not spying for Germany. He's been searching for his former girlfriend who went to Berlin, Germany with her new boyfriend. Henri followed her & heard that she came back in London. She is the reason why he returned from New York.

Someone in “Selfridges” told the police that Henri is a spy for the Germans. Mr. Thackery had followed Henri to a woman who was helping him to try to find his former girlfriend. Henri doesn't know that Thackery might have tipped off the police. He mentioned to Agnes that Henri might be doing something he shouldn't be.

Mr. Grove talks to Miss Mardle about the young male border in her home. He is concerned about Mardle's reputation which surprises her. She was in love with Grove who left her for another woman. He obviously still has feelings for her, but she is moving on because she made a fool out of herself with him. She adamantly denies there is anything going on with the young man.

Agnes accuses Mr. Thackery of tipping off the police. Mr. Grove decides to investigate who in “Selfridges” wants Henri in jail. Rose finds a note with names & addresses. She shows that note to Delphine who says that Harry is part of the intelligence. Rose doesn't know where Harry went or with whom.
