PBS KIDS announced 'Peg + Cat' for Fall 2013 (Photos)

At the Television Critics Association Press Tour yesterday, PBS KIDS announced that a new show, Peg + Cat, will premiere this fall. The show is co-created by Billy Aronson and Jennifer Oxley and The Fred Rogers Company.

The animated series revolves around Peg, a young precocious girl, and her pet Cat as they encounter math-based adventures and learn fundamental math concepts along the way. The educational show will have Peg and Cat encountering a word problem in each 11-minute episode. It is hinted that as the series progress, Peg and Cat will travel to different realms, ranging from 16th century Verona to purple planets to pirate ships, to emphasize the concept that math is universal. The ambitious goal of the series is to teach algebraic thinking concepts to 3-5 year olds.

The TV series is part of a multiplatform media experience intended to engage kids in various capacities: games, apps, and interactive website. For more information, check out www.pbskids.org/peg.
