According to an article on PBR.com, dated January 23, 2014, Julio Moreno, Bushwacker’s owner, recently announced that the world famous bull will retire at the end of the 2014 Built Ford Tough Professional Bull Riding season. The announcement was made at a press conference in Oklahoma City.
Often times, the bulls of the PBR become as famous as the riders and sometimes even more. Bushwacker began his career with the Built Ford Tough Series of Professional Bull Riding in 2009 as a young and inexperienced 3-year-old bull.
It didn’t take long for him to be noticed and become a favorite among the riders and the fans. Five years later, if you know anything about the PBR, you know who Bushwacker is. These bulls that compete in the PBR arena are true athletes and exert their all in the bucking arena, and Bushwacker is no exception. He gives his all at every event and that is what has caused him to rise to the top as a fan favorite and in statistics.
According to the statistics on Bushwacker’s PBR page, he has only been ridden twice in his career, once in 2009 and once in 2013. In 2009, Thiago Paguioto scored an 89.75 on him and in 2013, J.B. Mauney had a wild 8-second ride that earned him an amazing score of 95.25.
It’s no wonder he is ranked the No. 1 bull by the PBR and that fans flock to the arena to see him buck. Weighing in at 1500 pounds, you wouldn’t think he could kick, jump or buck nearly as hard or as high as he does.
Bushwacker is scheduled to appear in 11 of the PBR events across the country in 2014. The first one will be in Oklahoma City on January 25th where he will compete in the 15/15 Bucking Battle. That is a competition just like it sounds. The world’s Top 15 Riders go up against the Top 15 Bucking Bulls. Bushwacker will end his amazing career at the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas in October, 2014.
If you have always wanted to see this amazing bull in action, this year is going to be your last chance. You can check the complete schedule and get ticket information at PBR.com.
