Northeast Market and Coffee House is more than a coffee shop, it’s more than a market. Yes, they sell amazing coffee. They even have some incredible antique furniture and knick knacks for sale, but that is not what sets them apart. What sets them apart is that they strive to do business as a ministry. When you visit Northeast Market and Coffee, you are greeted by the owners, Hector and Laurie Pineda. They enjoy welcoming you to their coffee and antiques shop and striking up a conversation. The smell of coffee, the positive quotes on the walls, and the modern furniture help create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Tuesday through Saturday, they sell their coffee and antiques from 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Then on Friday and Saturday starting at 8:00pm, the coffee shop is open for live music. They have bands and choirs come in to perform uplifting music for the glory of the Lord. Sometimes, for bigger venues, they take the music outside. This coming Friday, July 25, 2014, Blood Stained Nails will have their live unplugged concert at Northeast Market Coffee House located at 2630 Decker Blvd. Columbia, SC 29206. The event is free to the public.
Along with opening up their shop for live music, Hector and Laurie sponsor a sewing ministry for young girls. The girls come in and learn how to sew aprons for themselves and their mothers. In doing this, the girls learn a trade and become equipped to start a business of their own. Laurie and Hector are involved with several ministries which are made possible by the sale of their coffee. So if you are ever on Decker Blvd. and you need a cup of coffee, or you need something to do on Friday or Saturday night, do not hesitate to stop by Northeast Market and Coffee House where your dollars will help support ministry activities in Columbia.
