Overkill’s new heist video game, “Payday 2” is selling like hotcakes. On Friday, reports came out that “Payday 2” has sold 1.58 million copies. And of the 1.58 million copies that have been sold, 80 percent of the copies were digital.
Starbreeze, the parent company of “Payday 2”, deemed the game a success and they even said that the game would be profitable based on the preorders alone six day ahead of launch. “Payday 2” was released in mid-August and it’s available for PC, Playstation 3 and XBOX 360. The game cracked the NPD’S top-10 sales chart for August at No. 8. There’s a chance sales could increase because there are five expansion packs planed for the year.
“Payday 2” is a first-person shooter game which involves a player and their team which can consist of friends or random players performing bank heist and robberies. Its predecessor, “Payday” was released for Playstaion 3 and PC in 2011 and sold 700,000 copies.
