This is called Ikebana Short Seminar Program offered by our floral design school which is certified by Flower Decorators Association (Tokyo Japan). The purpose of this program is to let as many people as possible experience a lesson of Ikebana arrangement whereby we would like Ikebana to become more popular in the United States.

Students who attend this seminar can learn two of basic Ikebana arrangement spending about 2.5 hours at the classroom in San Jose or Burlingame. They can enjoy friendly hands on training of ONE ON ONE instructions by a well experienced Ikebana instructor certified in Japan having over 30 year experience in teaching Ikebana not only in the United States but also in Japan.

Students can take a lesson per this program just as a short seminar to enjoy Ikebana arrangement or for the purpose of evaluating our way of instructions before making up their mind for signing up for an official course such as Ikebana Arrangement Elementary Course offered by our floral design school.

The lesson fee of $89 covers not only tuition but also flower materials as well as Ikebana arranging devices like Kenzan (a kind of frog which is a needlepoint holder to hold flowers) and Suiban (flat and shallow type container specifically designed for traditional Ikebana arrangement). They can get these devices absolutely free. No hidden cost at all.

Above mentioned Kenzan is made from heavy metal on which uncountable number of needles are inserted. When arranging Ikebana, flower stems are inserted onto Kenzan. In this sense the way of Ikebana arrangement is somewhat different from European or American way of arrangements which use floral foam ("Oasis").

They can use Kenzan for a period of their lifetime. Also Suiban can be used for a long period of time. They can use these devices repeatedly as many times as they like when making Ikebana arrangements.

If students would like to continue learning Ikebana arrangement after attending this short seminar they will be quite welcome. Our school offers official course programs such as Ikebana Arrangement Elementary Course, Intermediate Course and also Advanced Course.

If you have already had some experiences in Ikebana arrangement, you can skip above mentioned short seminar or elementary course and jump start the intermediate course so that you can brush up on your current Ikebana skills.
