There is a small but wonderful Kansas City area rescue group called Protective Animal Welfare Society. They take mixed breeds of all sizes from area shelters. This group is dedicated and will do everything they can for a dog in their care. Right now they need help from the public in the form of monetary donations for an emergency surgery on Jasmine.
Jasmine was transferred from The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City where she had just been surrendered along with her brother. Jasmine and her brother are both very sweet Shih Tzu/Beagle crosses. PAWS only had her a few days before she had to be rushed to the vet. Jasmine was literally dripping blood from her bottom and it turns out that Jasmine had a pretty bad case of bladder stones. She had surgery and is now recovering.
PAWS took responsibility of her once she came into their rescue program and there was no hesitation when they realized there was an issue. She immediately went to the vet and had surgery to remove the stones. Now comes the time when they need help from people like you in order to keep up their great work.
When rescue groups commit to a dog they take care of any issues may that come up. Without donations from caring individuals rescue groups would not be able to keep doing the good work they do.
PAWS is a 501c3 organization. All donations are tax deductible. You can donate directly to the vet (Aid Animal Hospital – 816-363-4922) or by using the donate button on the PAWS website.
Please stop by the PAWS Facebook page to be kept up to date on Jasmine and to give a word of encouragement to this awesome rescue group.

For some reason it seems that the media has decided that negative news is more important than good news. Pay attention…even in the animal rescue news column there will be hundreds of stories of bad rescues, bad owners, neglected pets, etc but very few stories of the people who are performing good deeds every day.
It is time for this to change. For the next 6 months the focus of my articles will be positive stories about:
· dogs who were saved and the people who saved them
· rescues who work hard and tirelessly to save needy animals
· people who open their hearts and homes to these animals in need
