If you are in the market for a feline or canine companion, or to shop for great deals supporting a good cause, a wonderful opportunity is coming up this weekend, Saturday, January 9th, at the PAWS Atlanta 'Opt to Adopt' adoption drive and yard sale!

'Opt to Adopt' and a yard sale will be at the PAWS Atlanta location in Decatur (5287 CovingtonHwy, Decatur, 30035) on Saturday, January 9th, from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.*   PAWS' mission is to find loving homes for all of their cats and dogs, and they are kicking this year off with a bang!

*Jan. 5th update: The time for the event has changed from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. to 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 Opt to Adopt

For Saturday's event, PAWS is giving adopting families a bunch of goodies along with their furry companion!

  • The adoption fee will be reduced by $25!  To adopt a dog, the fee will be $150 instead of $175.  To adopt a cat, the fee will be $75 instead of $100.
  • Not only that, but you will receive a free month of flea/tick preventative (Vectra for cats and Vectra 3D for dogs) AND
  • Your pet will be microchipped compliments of PAWS.  To read more on the benefits of microchipping your pet, click here
  • As always, your new companion will be spayed or neutered, heartworm negative, and current on all shots

You'll be ready to go right out of the gate!

PAWS' normal adoption process will be followed during this event.  You should:

  • Bring everyone in the family who will be caring for and/or interacting with your new pet.  They'll want to meet him or her anyway!
  • Bring any dogs or cats in the family to ensure everyone will get along
  • Get ready for hugs and kisses!

There are many adorable cats and dogs at PAWS just waiting for a forever home.  Romeo and Mikino (pictured above and at right) are the PAWS Dog and Cat of the Month (respectively), but there are others!  PAWS has pictures and information on the other cats and dogs available for adoption on their Web site.

Yard Sale

PAWS isn't just offering pet supplies as part of their yard sale, so even if you're not shopping for a pet lover, if you want to support a good cause, stop by!  The yard sale will offer a wide variety of items including office items, pet accessories, art, jewelry, lawn/garden items, and holiday items.

PAWS is one of many non-profit organizations in the metro Atlanta area that work to make animals' lives better every day.  Monetary and in-kind donations of usable items are always tax deductible.  Consider making a donation to PAWS in 2010 part of your charitable giving!
