This Easter, blow off church and forget that tired ham dinner: Nothing says "welcome spring!" like watching wiener dogs race down a cobblestone street.
Paws at the Coffee Mill, a gift store for animal lovers located in Huntington Beach's historic Old World Village, hosts dachshund races on the the third Sunday of the month from January to Oktoberfest at the beginning of November. This year, the March races are two weekends before Easter, on Sunday, March 21.
Like last weekend's special race in honor of St. Patrick's Day, the folks at Paws at the Coffee Mill are making something special out of the Easter races. In addition to entering their hot dogs in the races, they can also dress up their weenies for an Easter parade and costume contest.
Admission is $1, and parking is free. Guests can enjoy a BBQ and full bar. To enter your dachshund in the race, please contact Inge at (714) 898-5111 or visit www.wienerdogstore.com. Check-in is at 2 pm, and the races begin at 3 pm.
