Paws-A-Palooza a success

The Humane Society of Genesee County held its first ever Paws-a-Palooza adopt-a-thon August 14, 2010, and despite the loss of power due to a power outage in the area the turnout was great. By 11:30 a.m. power had been restored and the event was off to a terrific start. There was plenty of food available like hotdogs, cotton candy and popcorn at no cost to the visitors and the kids enjoyed the bounce house. Games and prizes were rewarded to participants throughout the day and the pet security containment system valued at $900.00 was won by a local area resident.
With the goal of 20 pets to be adopted that day it is still unclear if that number was met. Some pets were placed on hold until the perspective owners were able to return to the shelter with the proper information. Many pets that were adopted at the shelter earlier this year were back to visit and even had their photos taken with their owners at the Humane Society.
If you are interested in adopting a pet at the shelter please visit the Humane Society of Genesee County at 3325 S Dort Hwy PO Box 190138 | Burton, Michigan or call (810) 744-0511. Hours of operation: Monday-Friday 12 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The shelter is located just a few short miles south of Flint and just north of Grand Blanc, MI.
