Paula Poundstone at Golden Nugget

The all new Golden Nugget welcomes comedienne Paula Poundstone on Saturday night, March 3, 2012, at 8 p.m.

Paula Poundstone is famous for her improvisational comedy style, often appearing on stage with only a stool and a can of Diet Pepsi.  She talks about everyday life and motherhood, two subjects that can be downright hilarious in the hands of an accomplished comedy performer like Poundstone, especially while dressed in a suit and tie.  (See featured video clip.)

From Sudbury, Massachusetts, Paula started her comedy career in Boston in 1979 doing open-mic nights at comedy clubs.  Though cast in the movie Hyperspace in 1984, she didn't pursue an acting career, but chose to stick with comedy.

Paula Poundstone has been the recipient of many comedy awards, such as. . .

  • #7 on Maxim Magazine's list of Worst Comedians of All Time, 2004

She has also published her autobiography entitled There is Nothing in this Book That I Meant to Say, a collection of anecdotes from her own life.  She currently works as a panelist on the radio news quiz show Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me! for National Public Radio.  Her first comedy CD, I Heart Jokes, was released in 2009.
