Springer Mountain Farms is a chicken producer that is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Their chickens are raised without antibiotics, are pesticide free and are fed a vegetarian diet and are certified as American Humane. Paula Deen has been a spokesperson for the company for the past few years. Paula’s photo is still advertized on many of the packaging’s that are wrapped around their whole or chicken parts.
Paula Deen posted the following message on her Facebook page as well as on the Springer Mountain Farms Facebook page on October 20 stating: “It’s time for Sunday Supper, y’all! Each week I’ll be sharing a delicious chicken recipe from my friends at: Springer Mountain Farms to share with your family for Sunday Supper.”
“This week, how about heaping helping of Quick and Easy Chicken Pot Pie? It comes together in a flash, and your family will just love it!”
Springer Mountain Farms is one of the few companies that still stands behind Paula Deen.
Statement from Springer Mountain Farms: "We support Paula Deen. We have worked closely with her for the last two years and know her to be a compassionate, caring person. We have seen her with all types of people and have never seen any sign of prejudice. We truly believe her when she says she is sorry for any hurt feeling she has caused. We are very pleased with the interview Paula Deen gave this morning offering her apologies and reaffirming her personal commitment to equality and fairness for all. As an organization we believe that she and her team are on the right track and we look forward to continuing to work together."
Chicken is one of the most popular choices to serve for dinner. It is easy to prepare and comes packaged in a variety of ways. It can be bought whole, halved, just things, legs, wings or breasts as well as sliced into tenders or nuggets.
Today everyone is looking for a healthy way of eating and chicken is no exception to that rule. Not every company that breeds chickens cares for them the same. Some chicken feed contains by-products and chemicals we don’t want in our own systems. Springer Mountain Farms isn’t one of those companies that raise their chickens with unhealthy feeding habits. This is most likely one of the many reasons that Paula Deen wanted to support this company and put her name and likeness upon their packaging because she believes they are doing right by the animals as well as the people that consume chicken as a food source.
Better chicken does indeed make better dinner choices!
