Paula Deen's family sheds 178 pounds and authors diet cookbook

The family that diets together gets healthy together appears to be the motto of Paula Deen's family, which has lost an amazing 178 pounds. They shared their newly gained weight loss wisdom in an interview with People on Jan. 23, saying "If the Deens can do it, anyone can." In addition, Paula's son Bobby Deen has authored a new diet cookbook: "From Mama's Table to Mine: Everybody's Favorite Comfort Foods at 350 Calories or Less."

Paula lost 40 pounds after her diagnosis with diabetes. She chose a modified version of a low-carbohydrate diet, cutting back on carbs and eating "reasonable portions," she told People. A key to Paula's success: Lots of fresh veggies and "moderation." Her sons Bobby and Jamie also lost weight, while her husband avoided knee surgery by losing an impressive 60 pounds. He used a program that allows four protein shakes daily and a healthy dinner. "When I used to diet, I'd eat a donut and think I’d screwed up, so I’d eat a dozen. Now I've learned if you fall off the wagon, you just jump back on," he told People magazine.

Jamie followed a diet similar to Paula's to lose 45 pounds, while Bobby lost 33 pounds with veggies, fish and regular workouts. "Doing it together helps so much," Paula told People. "It’s just easier when y’all encourage one another and pull in the same direction." And it also helps when family members know how to transform tasty foods into slimmed-down delights!Get Bobby's new diet cookbook now by clicking here.
