Paula Deen's Baked Brie En Croute in Puff Pastry Recipe

Paula Deen's Baked Brie takes just 10 minutes prep time, provided you already have the puff pastry thawed and ready to go. If you purchase the standard size sheet of puff pastry from Pepperidge Farm, you should roll it out a little as it's a bit small for an 8-ounce wheel of brie. Use a flour-dusted rolling pin so the pastry doesn't stick to the pin.

Paula Deen uses walnuts in her Baked Brie recipe, but you can use pecans or almonds, or no nuts at all if you have a nut allergy. She recommends cutting the rind off the top of the brie before baking, but you can also leave it on as it's edible. Some people like it, others don't. Once it's baked it's hard to tell whether it's there or not.

Paula Deen's Baked Brie recipe is made with brown sugar and cinnamon, making this a sweet cheese appetizer. Variations could include sauteed garlic and spinach (drained and squeezed before sautéing), dun-dried tomatoes and garlic, or whole cranberry sauce and walnuts. Follow Paula's Baked Brie directions for wrapping the brie in puff pastry and finishing the cheese appetizer.
