Paula Deen restaurant closed: Casualty of racism scandal that was beyond repair

Paula Deen’s restaurant has closed its doors. The eatery was at the center of the discrimination case brought against Deen, which left her reputation tarnished. The discrimination case brought against Deen was dismissed after lawyers reached a deal, but the damage had been done.

Deen answered the questions honestly and she admitted to using racial slurs in the past during the proceedings, according to Fox 411 on April 4. This reveal left Deen with a long road of reputation repairs in front of her.

Apparently her restaurant was a casualty that didn’t make it through the ordeal. Uncle Bubba’s Seafood & Oyster House, which is the eatery Deen co-owns with her brother Bubba Heirs, announced that it is closing its doors on their Facebook page.

This comes in the wake of the lawsuit filed by the former restaurant manager, Lisa Jackson, who sued both Deen and her brother back in 2012. Jackson’s lawsuit alleged sexual harassment and employment practices that were unfair to the black workers.

The restaurant’s website thanks the public for “10 great years” and announces that “Uncle Bubba’s is now closed.”
