Paula Deen: chocolate cobbler recipe

Paula read this recipe out to the crowd during her tour to the Durham, NC area. It is an easy recipe to make. However, be sure to read through the entire recipe before you begin!

Chocolate Cobbler

  • 1 stick butter, melted

Add melted butter to an 8x8 or 9x9 pan.

Next, mix together the next 4 ingredients and spoon on top of melted butter:

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup self rising flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder

    Filling:

  • 4 tbsp cocoa powder, unsweetened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup pecans
  • 1/2 cup toffee bits
  • 1 1/2 cup water, boiling

Combine first 4 ingredients.
Sprinkle over the first mixture.
Pour water over top.

Bake at 350* for 35-40 minutes.
Serve with ice cream over the top.

    Thanks so much for posting this recipe! We saw Paula Deen Live in Durham, NC and I didn't have a pen and paper to write it down on. I saw her make this recipe on Food Network yesterday with Trisha Yearwood on Best Dishes but I couldn't find the recipe on the Food Network website. Thanks again for posting this recipe... I can't wait to try it out!

    I made this yesterday after seeing Paula make it on Food Network. It is wonderful. I did not have the toffee bits so I eliminated those. Still wonderful - will make again! I will probably double it if serving for company.
