Paula Aubert was born and raised in the north woods of Minnesota. The second of five children, Aubert had a meager upbringing. Growing up, her mother and father were always listening to music in their home, due to this, Aubert was exposed to many different genres of music at an early age.

Though she wasn't a good student in High School, Aubert did show a need to be creative in some way. Due to this, music was one subject that she took a major interest in. She spent much of her time in school observing jam sessions and band practices, and eventually joined her high school choir. When not attending school, Aubert spent much of her time going to heavy metal concerts with her high school sweetheart.

At the age of 19, Aubert knew she wanted be a singer. Her parents always made her feel like she could be whom ever she wanted to be, and were very encouraging about her pursing her musical dream. At the age of 21, Aubert picked up the guitar for the first time and taught herself how to play.

While living in the Austin Texas area, Aubert started working on her debut CD, Purdy Wings. Most of the recording for Purdy Wings was done in Aubert’s home South Austin. Once the album was nearly completed, Aubert learned that the master back-up file for the album was somehow erased. Eventually Aubert was able to recover most of the album, but she did have to go into Yellow Dog Studios to redo some of the vocals that were lost. In 2013, Purdy Wings was finally released.

Aubert’s ultimate goal is to eventually form her own bluegrass band. As far as her musical influences, Aubert draws influences from singer/songwriter, folk, Americana, and bluegrass music. She lists her individual influences as being Willie Nelson, Randy Travis, Dolly Parton, Kathy Mattea, Wynona Judd, Gillian Welch, Alison Krauss, Clint Black, Dwight Yoakum, Patty Loveless, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Nanci Griffith. Bob Dylan, Jewel, Loretta Lynn, and Buddy Holly.
