Paula Abdul -- first 'American Idol,' now 'Star Search?'

Former "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul may not be done with critiquing just yet. According to a new report courtesy of Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello, Paula may be signing on to both host and judge a reboot of "Star Search" for ABC.

The last time the talent competition was on the air was 2003 -- and it bombed miserably. However, it also didn't have Paula's name attached the project. The program is being billed as a summer show, which actually sounds like a strange idea to begin with because that means throwing it up against the more established "America's Got Talent." We also don't know if this deal will have any impact on Simon Cowell's attempt to recruit Paula for a spot on "X Factor" when it launches by fall 2011. Cowell considers his fellow former judge a good friend, and he has expressed a desire to work with her again.

This "Star Search" gig may have opened up thanks to Paula's recent negotiations with ABC over "Dancing With the Stars." The network offered her a development deal in return for appearing on the show -- while those plans fell through, it looks like some of the other ideas bounced around during talks may be coming to fruition.

Do you think that Paula Abdul could be making a mistake with this "Star Search" revival? Let me know your thoughts below and stay tuned for more TV news.
