Paul Walker's cause of death has been revealed by the LA County Coroner despite the autopsy results being in "lockdown." On Dec. 4, TMZ reported that Paul Walker died from combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries sustained in the crash. This means that Walker's death was directly attributed to the fire that resulted from the crash... in other words, Paul Walker burned alive.

This news is absolutely devastating to family, friends, and fans who hoped that Walker died before the fire ensued. Burning alive is thought to be one of the most traumatic, painful ways to die.

Paul Walker's cause of death was different from that of his friend and the driver of the Porsche, Roger Rodas. According to the autopsy results, "Rodas died from multiple traumatic injuries suffered upon impact. Burning was not listed as a factor in his death" (via TMZ). This means that Rodas was dead upon impact and the fire did not kill him.

News that Paul Walker burned alive is heartbreaking. It was like the last piece of hope that people were holding on to -- "maybe he died in the crash" ... "hopefully he didn't suffer." To read more about the accident, click here.

Walker and Rodas' deaths were documented as "accidents" by the medical examiner.

Paul Walker was 40-years-old.
