Paul Stanley tells all in his new memoir

Kiss ‘Starchild’ Paul Stanley is currently making the rounds to promote his new memoir, ‘Face the Music: A Life Exposed.

The new book hit stores just last week and it’s already causing quite a buzz among Kiss fans.

Until reading the book, many were unaware that Stanley was born with a birth defect. Not only was the singer born without a right ear, the defect caused him to be deaf on his right side.

Stanley suffered greatly as a child. Not only was the singer bullied and teased by his peers, he had to cope with unsupportive parents and a mentally unstable sister.

So how did Stanley persevere and become the successful man we all know and love?

‘You don’t take giant steps. You initially take baby steps appropriately. As you have small successes and small wins, it encourages you to go the next step,’ Stanley shared (via Forbes.com).

Stanley kept the faith – and it worked in his favor.

‘It’s certainly a lonely road when you plot your path and it goes against the grain or goes against the norm. You have to rely on faith and passion. Passion will help you succeed. But passion will also help you deal with failure. I think that small victories keep us going forward and also near-victories keep us motivated to go forward,’ the singer told Forbes contributor Ruth Blatt.

‘Face the Music: A Life Exposed’ is available at Detroit area Barnes and Noble stores, as well as on Amazon.

Watch for Paul Stanley and Kiss to hit Detroit on their current tour. Kiss performs at the DTE Energy Theater in Clarkson, Michigan on Saturday August 23. For tickets, visit the Ticketmaster website here.
