On Sunday, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan had some harsh words for President Barack Obama. Ryan, 42, essentially said that the president is oblivious to the fact that we have a fiscal crisis. He even went further by giving the following statement about the commander in chief.
“Look, if we had a [Hillary] Clinton presidency, if we had Erskine Bowles as chief of staff of the White House or president of the United States, I think we would have fixed this fiscal mess by now," Ryan said on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Here's a little excerpt of Paul Ryan's tirade, courtesy of a Jan. 27 Yahoo! report.
"I don't think that the president actually thinks we have a fiscal crisis. He's been reportedly saying to our leaders that we don't have a spending problem, we have a healthcare problem. That leads me to conclude that he just thinks we ought to have more government-run healthcare and rationing."
Interestingly, the Florida senator Marco Rubio and Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, two potential candidates for the Republican nomination for the presidential election of 2016, voted differently on the agreement to avoid the "fiscal cliff."
Rubio was one of five senators (three Republicans, one Democrat and one independent) to vote against the deal, while Ryan was one of 85 Republicans to approve the measure.
The Florida senator justified his refusal by referring to the impact of higher tax rates on small business owners. For his part, Ryan defended his approval, stating that he wanted to "spare the greatest possible number of Americans a tax increase."
During Paul Ryan's interview with "Meet the Press," when asked about his plans on running for the presidency in 2016, he says:
"I think it's just premature. I've got an important job to do,"
However, if we believe the reaction earlier this year from conservative website RedState founder, Erick Erickson, Ryan's presidential hopes are done: Erickson had this to say on Twitter;
"Thus ends the exploratory committee for Paul Ryan for president in 2016."
What do you think about Paul Ryan's fiscal crisis statements on President Obama?
