The Hollywood Reporter and Variety broke the news Wednesday that Rudd has been chosen to star as brilliant scientist Henry Pym (or Scott Lang)/Ant-Man in Marvel's next superhero installment.

The comedic actor has been rumored to be considered as a contender for the superhero role, along with Joseph Gordon-Levitt who has appeared in several comic book adaptations including The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and is rumored to be gearing up for DC Comics Sandman.

Sources tell Variety that Rudd is in early negotiations with the studio.

Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) is set to write and direct the film, with Joe Cornish onboard as co-screenwriter.
