Paul McCartney performs "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five" in Puerto Rico.
Here's a report on the concert Paul McCartney and the band gave Monday at the Coliseo De Puerto Rico (and th in Puerto Rico from C.P. Ralph (thank you!!):
Greetings from Puerto Rico --
A trip to visit my wife's family coincided with Macca's show here last night - I'm a lifetime fan, but this was my first show -- it was epic, beautiful and a great time. The Coliseo holds just under 20,000 fans. Paul was in great form, the band was tight, the fans were ecstatic. McCartney spoke to the crowd in Spanish frequently between songs.
The show appeared sold out. There had been plenty of press leading up to the show -- a countdown for the past week in the largest newspaper on the island. (Here's an article in Spanish that features an audio snippet from an interview with Paul.)
A great local Beatles coverband, Jukebox, performed outside the arena before the show. We spotted Ruben Blades inside -- I'm sure there were other celebrities and dignitaries attending. Paul went on around 8:30pm and it lasted nearly three hours.
(Editor's note: For those keeping score, there were these changes from the Miami show: "Drive My Car" was subbed for "Got To Get You Into My Life"; "I've Just Seen a Face" for "I'm Looking Through You"; "And I Love Her" for "Two of Us". It's the same set he played March 31 at the second Hollywood Bowl show.)

That's the Puerto Rico flag
I was fortunate to be in Puerto Rico vacationing during Sir Paul's historic & first performance there. And although I've seen him in concert twice before, the most recent being Citi-Field in NY July 2009 , last Monday's show was for me, by far, the most spectacular & exhilarating output I'd experience hands down. I couldn't believe how this amazing soul( turning 68 in June),still produces that energy to belt out those beautiful songs powerfully & with charisma & flair. All I could think about, was how when I get to be his age (I'm 58), I want to be able to continue enjoying his music(along with Beatles' songs) & have a good time too.
God Bless you Paul McCartney !
Puerto rico Flag... you dummie!!!!!
What an AWESOME show! Just happened to be in Valencia last week.Went to the concert with friends, and had a blast! Once in a lifetime for me (hopefully not). Last great concert experience before Sir Paul was George Clinton...in Laramie, of all places. Still have "Obla De, Obla Da" running through my brain 24/7. Haven't seen so many over-50's at a show since my last 'Stones concert. EVERYBODY LOVED THE MCCARTNEY SHOW!!!!!! I hope he comes back to P.R. soon. I'm only a 40minute plane ride away.
