It was officially announced May 21 that Paul McCartney's May 28 Out There! show at Jamsil Sports Complex Main Stadium in Seoul, South Korea has now been called off because of his illness, reported the Korea Herald. Beatles Examiner carried an exclusive report Tuesday with the first news of the South Korea cancellation.

Paul McCartney will regrettably have to postpone his forthcoming concert in Seoul, South Korea. After coming down with a virus in Japan, doctors have ordered Paul complete rest," the official statement released by Seoul-based Hyundai Card Co. Ltd. said. "Paul is still not feeling better and this cancellation is unavoidable. All possibilities to reschedule this show are being explored.”

"I was really looking forward to visiting and playing in South Korea for the first time and I'm sorry to be letting fans down," McCartney said. "I'm very disappointed by this and hope to be able to visit soon."

Promotors said they would offer refunds to ticket holders ranging from $55 to $290. According to statements released by the McCartney camp, a virus has caused McCartney to cancel all his shows in the Far East.

Guitarist Brian Ray tweeted early this morning from Tokyo's Narita International Airport. "In the Admiral's Lounge at Narita in Tokyo where they played a Musak version of 'Michelle' followed by 'La Cucaracha.'" There's been no official word if McCartney is still in Japan or has left the country.

Fans have continued to reach out worldwide on social media wanting McCartney to get well. A fan Facebook page with get-well wishes now has over 1,200 members. That's in less than a week of being online.

The Seoul concert was the final show before a two-month block of shows in the United States that is still set to begin June 14 in Lubbock, Texas and end Aug. 14 at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, the final concert at that stadium where the Beatles performed in 1966. Tickets for American shows, which are still scheduled, are available here and here.

The postponement of the Korea show comes on top of the cancellation of the Japan shows (see video on this page), which was announced Monday in a statement released in Japan. “Paul McCartney will regrettably have to cancel the remaining Japanese shows. Paul is still not feeling better and this cancellation is unavoidable. He was hoping to be better but the doctors have ordered him complete rest.

"Paul has been extremely moved by the messages from his fans and is upset to be letting them down. All possibilities to find a solution to reschedule these shows as soon as possible are being explored.”
