In an interview published in the Spring '09 issue of the Hard Rock Hotel's magazine, Paul McCartney hints players of "The Beatles: Rock Band" will find some added hidden features included in the game when it's released on Sept. 9.
"I've been watching as the team has been developing it and I'm getting more and more into it as it comes together," he told interviewer Michael Lucas. "It's going to be really jam packed with goodies. You've got the basic "Rock Band" game with Beatles songs and then you have also got loads of goodies. If you get to a certain level, you get prizes -- photos, snippets and much more.
"It's good because me and Ringo have been helping with the extras and we tell some little stories and have been able to veritfy some facts. I'm really excited by it," McCartney said.
Paul McCartney gave concert fans a first preview of the game during "Got To Get You Into My Life" at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival. (See video at top.)
He also commented about downloading of music on the internet. "I think the most important thing for me is to make sure that the people who make the music don't get ripped off. ... I think once people get to be able to lift music for nothing it's cool for them but the danger is for the writers, particularly the young guys coming up, if they don't get paid, it's a pity. Anyone who works well deserves to receive the rewards. Otherwise I think it's a great way to receive and deliver music."

Gotta love extras!
The first game I will actually work hours on to get to the goodies! Usually I don't care about stuff like that but with The Beatles...I will be obsessed with finding all the hidden stuff!!!
Scenes from the game were also featured at the show at the Hard Rock. Personally I didn't care for the depiction of the Beatles.
I thought the Rock Band clips were awesome. The movements and characteristics of the group were spot on. A certain sway by Paul, the chewing of gum by John; it was pretty acurate. The "camera view" wasn't static: it moved around the Beatles; not like the Rock Band games of today. The video shown on the screen at The Joint was like giant dots, so I don't think it represented the quality of the actual game. It was sort of like watching a Standard Definition image on a HiDef plasma screen from about four inches.

Some people have bashed the "Rock Band" game but I think it looks very good! This isn't the first time The Beatle's themes and images have been re-interpreted, as some 41 years ago they approved the Yellow Sub" movie even though they wound up having very little to do with it directly. I am excited to find out what the extras will be and also about what the new CD's will be like. I am also glad that this game will become an introduction to the wonderful music of the Beatles to a new generation of teens who have not yet taken the opportunity to listen to their music.
