On his official website Sept. 13, Paul McCartney revealed the official track list for the standard 12-track version of his “New” album with 12 tracks to be released Oct. 15 in the U.S. and Oct. 14 elsewhere.
The listing: “Save Us” (produced by Paul Epworth), “Alligator” (produced by Mark Ronson), “On My Way to Work” (produced by Giles Martin), “Queenie Eye” (produced by Paul Epworth), “Early Days” (produced by Ethan Johns), “New” (produced by Mark Ronson), “Appreciate” (produced by Giles Martin), “Everybody Out There” (produced by Giles Martin), “Hosanna” (produced by Ethan Johns), “I Can Bet” (produced by Giles Martin), “Looking At Her” (produced by Giles Martin), “Road” (produced by Giles Martin).
The list didn't include “Turned Out,” “Get Me Out of Here” and “Scared,” which have been part of deluxe CD listings on Walmart and Amazon.com in France, and a 16th track for Japan, "Life of a Party Girl."
Giles Martin, also listed as one of the executive producers of "New" with McCartney, produced the bulk of the individual tracks on the album, which runs 46 minutes and 11 seconds. Six songs were produced by Martin while Mark Ronson, Paul Epworth and Ethan Johns produced two each. The album was mixed by Mark ‘Spike’ Stent.
“It's funny, when I play people the album they’re surprised it’s me. A lot of the tracks are quite varied and not necessarily in a style you'd recognise as mine,” McCartney said in a statement. “I didn't want it to all sound the same. I really enjoyed making this album. It's always great to get a chance to get into the studio with a bunch of new songs and I was lucky to work with some very cool producers. We had a lot of fun.
“The original idea was to go to a couple of producers whose work I loved, to see who I got on with best, but it turned out I got on with all of them! We made something really different with each producer, so I couldn’t choose and ended up working with all four. We just had a good time in different ways.”
According to the announcement today, the album was recorded at Henson Recording Studios, Los Angeles; Avatar Studios, New York; Abbey Road Studios, London; Air Studios, London; Wolf Tone Studios, London and Hog Hill Mill, East Sussex.
The deluxe version of the album can be ordered on iTunes and on Amazon.com,Amazon.ca,Amazon.co.jp, Amazon.co.uk and Walmart. You can order the vinyl on Amazon.com, Amazon.ca,Amazon.co.jp and Amazon.co.uk. The standard CD is available from Amazon.com and Walmart. Also available on Amazon.co.uk is a Mint Pack, but which appears to be the standard CD. The MP3 is available in the U.S., the UK and Japan.
The song has prompted fans to post their own videos of the song. McCartney is streaming the title song online and recently released a new video version of "New" recorded before his recent show in Regina, Canada.
